Top Ten Ways to Be Even More Gamine
What it
would mean to step more fully into being Gamine Autumn. I only speak for myself here. About what it would mean for me, in my life...
(1) Knowing &
trusting that my magical thinking is a strength
(2) Knowing that communicating my warmth is part of my purpose
(3) Committing to live with innocence
(4) Thinking through what it means to be quixotic with my business
(5) Deciding to do it my way & staying the course with whatever I decide to do
(6) Being willing to dress in unconventional ways that fully express my soul
(7) Dressing to support & express my magical self – magical “costume” of the day
(8) Spending time each day dreaming on purpose (holding my own vision for utopia)
(9) Expecting to be drawn to lots of different things & accepting that
(10) Making each day “slightly theatrical”

What it Means to Be a Gamine Autumn
What it Means to Be a Gamine Autumn
These are the qualities that stand out most to me, from the book, from my talk with him, and from my understanding of who I am as Gamine...
determined courage
quixotic and
magical thinking
having a “unique
& intensely personal process”
being a very
private person
having a
great sense of humor
being a
dreamer & a visionary
having
eclectic interests
Toned-Down Drama
I
remember he said to me more than once that there was the danger of
being overwhelmed by a style element so I had to be careful with it.
Like big round buttons. He said they create polka dots, which
are a no-no and might be overwhelming, unless they are modified in some
way. He said how but I can't remember. I think the modifications would
stop the eye & prevent an overall polka-dot look.
Told me the same thing about growing out my hair. Can go to my chin but not to my shoulders. That would overwhelm me and I would be lost in it all.
He emphasized that it was important to balance being slightly theatrical (used the word "costume," too) with me showing through it all. Like I have to make sure I don't get lost in it.
Another example: I asked if I could create faerie outfits. Said I didn't know if I'd ever dare but I was already wearing striped socks that were a different color than my pants which were a different color... you get the idea. He said, of course that would appeal to me.
But tie it all together. Bring the other color up. So feel the impulse but soften the outcome? Something like that.
